1980 Suzuki GS850G
I am thinning my collection due to moving to Florida later in the year.
I have owned this bike since 2004, and have carefully improved it over the intervening years.
This bike rides, drives and works as factory intended it to.
I do ride it daily, so mileage will increase.
Short History.
1981, 1900 miles on the bike, it fell over, owner rather than repairing it consigned it to his cellar until 2003. My close neighbor brought it in 2003 with the intent of repairing the tank dent, and other minor damage that has occurred. Added to that the front brakes has seized and it would start, but only run on choke. My neighbor did not do anything except sell it to me. I bought it from my neighbor in 2004 still with 1900 miles on the odometer
Changes/updates made:2004 Replacement set of carburetors (from eBay), all new gaskets and rubber in the carbs.
2004 Replaced front calipers (from eBay), new pads and brake seals front and rear brakes
2004 fitted stainless steel flexible brake lines
2004 new battery
2005 Found NOS gas tank on eBay
2005 replaced seals on front forks
2006 New tires
2005 Complete paint, front fender, tank, side panels and tail piece
2009 Replaced rectifier (eBay)
2009 New Battery
2015 Lug broke on LH side panel and panel fell of while riding, NOS panel (eBay), new side panel badges.
2016 Seat cover replaced, aftermarket item
2016 New rear tire
2020 Carbs cleaned (ultrasonic)
2020 New BatteryChrome is satisfactory,Small ding in front fender
Some scratches on tail pieceI have not been that careful for the last 6000+ miles.
It does show its age as a 40+ year old motorcycle.
Exhaust system is original, in reasonable condition.Seat shows no signs of wear, has no tears and is rather comfortable.
