Djembe Drum fromWest Africa: “Private Sale”
Selling my Professional Guinea Djembe with beautiful carvings in great condition.
It is made from either Lenke wood or Dimba wood
these traditional
woods
are all tropical
hardwoods
that are both dense and
hard
.
This djembe drum
has very good quality rope and authentic African goat skin.
This djimbe also has a woven handle to attach a playing strap. The only imperfection is a thin separation line on the upper goat skin where it is attached to the top wood rim.
Note: It is not broken through the skin, and does not affect play-ability. (See Photos)
Research Information:
These hard woods are the most prized of all the djembe woods. Not because it necessarily sounds better than the others, but because it is supposed to have spiritual properties that make it superior. Lenke and Dimba are red-brown to orange in color which is among the more commonly used species of wood for djembes.
Dugura,
Also known as: Dimba
,
grows in Senegal, and It has similar density as Lenke, but is a little softer.
The djembe shells are considered to bestow some of the best sound qualities, including great projection, noticeable depth of sound, crisp slaps, and warm tones.
